suntory za | 40% ''座''
An old 50ml miniature of Suntory ZA , the first Suntory Japanese Whisky created by chief blender Seiichi Koshimizu. Za has a Japanese style design, and in the middle of the label, the word ”座” , meaning like a smile of a face which brings happy and relaxing moments. “Za” released first time in 1998 and bottled at 40% abv.
Malty and grassy, with flavours of straw and cabbage leaves coming to the fore, salty in the end.
Hints of orange peel and subdued wood spiciness, followed by sawdust and a hint of mint.
Medium length finish, with lot of tannic dryness, but at an agreeable level, finally, slightly bitter.
